Student mobility is a cornerstone of Bielefeld University’s internationalisation. The Erasmus programs are promoted at the university through information campaigns organized by the International Office and the individual faculties of Bielefeld University. These datasets provide an overview of the outgoing and incoming students within the Erasmus framework, especially the student mobility for studies, for the academic year 2024-25.
The 247 students at Bielefeld University went to a total of 100 partner universities across 23 countries. The number of students per destination is fairly even spread, with the most active destinations being Italy (45), Spain (33), and Sweden (20).
The majority of outgoing students do their mobility during their bachelor study phase (139), the remaining mostly during their master studies (83), and the state exam graduation program (25), which does not apply to the bachelor/master system. With students from a total of 23 different courses of study, most of them come from the fields of educational sciences, psychology, and law.
The 108 incoming students come from a total of 51 partner universities across 17 countries, with the most active countries of origin being Italy (35), Turkey (26), and Poland (10). The majority of incoming students do their mobility during their bachelor studies (80), the remaining during their master studies (27), and doctorate (1).
With students from a total of 17 different courses of studies, most students come from the fields of German studies and/or German as a foreign language, Psychology and Educational Sciences.
Overall, the datasets show an active exchange between a wide range of partner universities and countries, as well as a strong preference for students to do their mobility during their bachelor studies in various fields.
