In the 2024/2025 academic year, the University of Ostrava continues to offer a diverse academic environment with key programmes attracting large numbers of students. The most popular programme by enrollment is Social Work with 630 students total. This programme is then followed by General Medicine (462 students) and Biology (438 students).
These figures show the university’s continuing support of healthcare and education, two sectors that are vital both in their general scope and in the development of the Moravian-Silesian Region, as both General Medicine and Social Work ranked among the most attended degree programmes in the previous academic year as well.
The age profile of students at the University of Ostrava reveals a number of intriguing trends as well. Programmes such as Social Work stand out for their high proportion of older students, with over 60 aged 40 or above.
In terms of academic variety, the Faculty of Arts is in the lead with 45 unique programmes, followed by the Faculty of Education. These insights show the university’s ongoing commitment to offering broad and beneficial educational opportunities.
