Erasmus+ is a well-established program at the University of Jaén (UJA) for students’ international mobility. Hundreds of students visit UJA or take the opportunity to go on exchange in Europe and beyond funded by this program. By the release of two datasets, an overview about incoming and outgoing students in the academic year 2023/2024 is made publicly available.
During the academic year 2023/2024, the 98 % of the 334 students from UJA funded by Erasmus+, experienced outgoing mobility during their Bachelor’s studies. Globally, gender distribution was quite balanced, with 52 % female and 48 % male students going abroad.
Learning agreements were signed with institutions from 20 different countries, being the main destinations Italy (28 % outgoing students), Poland (19 %) and Portugal (18 %). It is worth to mention that 15 outgoing students choose to study at other universities from NEOLAiA alliance. Business and administration, Engineering and Law were the preferential thematic areas.
Regarding incoming mobility, 449 students arrived at UJA from institutions located in 35 different EU and non-EU countries. Women (64 %) were more abundant than men (36 %) and their home institutions were located predominantly in Italy (30 % incoming students) and Germany (10 %). Only 12 incoming students originate from universities within the NEOLAiA alliance.
The majority of the incoming students were at bachelor’s level. Business and administration, Engineering and Languages were the preferential thematic areas.
Students’ mobility is one of the pillars of internationalization in the University of Jaén, and promotion activities of Erasmus+ and other funding opportunities will continue in the forthcoming years.
