How the University of Ostrava opens its doors to international students

July 24, 2025

The University of Ostrava regularly utilises ERASMUS+ projects to foster international mobility. Participants are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to travel abroad and experience the different educational systems and mechanisms other universities may have to offer. This pair of datasets explores the AY 2024/2025 statistics covering students coming to the University and travelling to other universities as part of the above described programmes.

In the Outgoing Students dataset, Belgium, Estonia and Italy rank among the three most popular nations for students to visit, with numbers of outgoing students ranging between 25 and 33 for the last academic year. Teaching for secondary schools stands out as the program with the highest number of students gathering experiences abroad, with the second place in the chart split between sociology and general medicine. International mobility programmes are also popular among students of geography, both environmental and political, and philology.

In the Incoming Students dataset, Spain is the indisputable leader, with 93 students registered for mobility programmes involving the UO as the host. The highest number of students sent at a time from one university was 14, visiting the UO from their home University of Valencia.

Overall, mobility programmes enjoy steady popularity at the University of Ostrava, with a total of 607 students exchanged between the UO and foreign partnered universities over the course of the 2024/2025 academic year.
