University of Nicosia’s Enrollment Trends for 2023-2024

January 16, 2025

The University of Nicosia has recently published a comprehensive dataset that offers valuable insights into student enrollment across its academic programs for the 2023-2024 academic year. This dataset includes key demographic information alongside program-specific details, providing a clearer picture of the university’s diverse student body. The university comprises eight schools: the School of Law, Medical School, Veterinary School, School of Business, School of Education, School of Life & Health Sciences, School of Science and Engineering, and the School of Humanities & Social Sciences. Additionally, it includes the Erasmus Department. These schools are organized into 20 departments, offering a total of 133 programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral) available on campus and/or through distance learning.

Gender Distribution

The overall gender distribution reveals a higher number of female students (66.5%), although some departments exhibit a more uneven gender mix. For instance, in the Department of Politics and Governance, female students (198) outnumber male students (102). Conversely, the Department of Digital Innovation has a significantly higher number of male students (270) compared to females (78). However, certain departments show a more balanced distribution; for example, the Department of Management has nearly equal numbers of male (625) and female (610) students, while the Department of Life Sciences displays a perfect balance with 229 male and 229 female students. These variations in gender distribution across departments reflect the overall trend where female students constitute the majority of the university’s enrollment this academic year.

Commitment to Gender Equality

As outlined in its Gender Equality Plan, the University of Nicosia is dedicated to fostering gender equality awareness among faculty, staff, and students. The university actively promotes a culture of gender equality, strives to eliminate the gender pay gap, and integrates gender perspectives into both teaching and research content.

Age Distribution

The dataset also includes information on the average age of students enrolled in each program. Although specific age data is not provided for individual students, the average age across all levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral) is 30 years, with students ranging from 18 to 52 years old.

This data provides a snapshot of the diverse student body enrolled in various academic programs at the University of Nicosia, reflecting a dynamic and inclusive academic environment.
