The dataset provides a comprehensive overview of the academic programs offered at the University of Tours for the 2024–2025 academic year.
With seven faculties, two University Institutes of Technology (IUT), an internal Polytechnic Engineering Institute (EPU), a Business Administration Institute (IAE) and a Center for Advanced Renaissance Studies, the university of Tours offers students the benefits of a multidisciplinary education.
The dataset includes 183 degree programs, enrolling a total of 24,857 students : 14,465 in 49 bachelor’s programs, 3,285 in 57 master’s programs, and 599 doctoral students across 50 disciplines. The two largest faculties, Arts and Humanities and Medicine, together represent more than a third of students at the university.
The student population in Tours is young, with 52% of students aged 20 or younger. It is also predominantly female, at 60%, a proportion a bit higher than the national average of female students in higher education. The highest percentage of female students is found in the Faculty of Literature and Languages (76%), the Faculty of Pharmacy (73%) and Faculty of Arts and Humanities (69%). In contrast, with only 24% the engineering school of Tours, Polytech remains male-dominated and 20% female students, the engineering school of Tours, Polytech, and the University Institute of Blois remain male-dominated.
The actual number of students studying on-site at the University of Tours in 2024–2025 is slightly higher than reported in this dataset (26 119 in total) , as it does not account for students enrolled in continuing education programs leading to university diplomas (the university awards approximately 320 such diplomas in total), nor those in preparatory classes for competitive exams or registered as auditors.
